I bought this as gift for my girlfriend as she is a keen to track her fitness but wanted a device to also use as an everyday watch. I use a Motorola 360 2nd Generation watch and also a YAMAY Fitness Tracker with Heart Rate Monitor. Having had the watch for a few days now it is interesting to compare both the tracker and the Motorola smartwatch which costs four times the price.

First thing to make clear as this is NOT Android Wear compatible and neither is it an Apple Watch and it matches these devices neither in features or price. This is a budget device but in fact is far from the cheapo poorly made device I feared it might be.

Inside the simple mid market product box was the watch itself, a short charging cable, watch strap, and a well written but rather small and poorly printed User Guide which I include on the end of my unboxing video (go full screen and pause as required to read it). Although the watch shipped with a lightweight peel off screen protector already fitted unlike other users I did not receive a separate screen protector or cleaning cloth.

Build quality seems fine and equal in quality to my M360 but the lesser expensive presentation reduces the overall premium feel of the product. The watch is not too thick and in fact is slimmer than my M360 and it feels just as robust and well made. The 1.54inch square TFT screen is good and bright with vibrant and deep colours but with a resolution of 240*240 cannot compare to the round 1.56” (40mm), 233ppi (360 X 330) LCD screen of the Motorola. The strap is easily detachable using quick release pins - if you think that is a good thing in a watch - and again seems well made and durable being made from a silicon type material in dark gray with bright green piping. The watch is IP68 waterproof to 3 meters which beats both the Yamay tracker and M360 and can be used for swimming although the User Guide tells us not to press the buttons when underwater.

Most but not all these features can be found on both my M360 and the Yamay tracker although far more easy ton use here than on the tiny tracker screen. It worth noting that unlike with some rival watches this one has no wifi support, no internal memory for media storage with no option to fit a micro SD card, and no internal camera. It will not work as a standalone phone since has no SIM card support (despite what some Amazon reviewers claim). Both these last two features are also missing from my M360 but neither would be any use to me or most users.

It connects to your mobile phone via Bluetooth and you need to install the 'Fundo Wear' app to control and fully configure the watch as well to record and display health and fitness data recorded by the watch. I am an Android user and have not been able to test the Apple app.

Pairing with the Bluetooth connection of my Android phone was easy enough and after this I was able to sync my contacts book and other items. I was then able to make and receive phone calls and play music controlled from the watch and receive SMS notifications and notifications from apps such as twitter, Facebook etc. The watch can also act as a remote control for the camera, which I suppose might be useful sometimes. A more practical use is the lost phone feature which can be used to locate the mislaid phone using Bluetooth.
