DESCRIPTION:
This DT58 is a very unusual fitness band. Sure, it does the usual stuff like step count, calories burned and distance traveled, along with multiple sport tracking, but it adds a few more things not often seen on inexpensive bands. There’s a link through tethering via your phone to the current weather in your city, the UV index, and even the air pressure and altitude, None of that is for your exact location, just the average for your city.

The real fun comes when you get into biometrics. There’s ECG plates on this one (and, unlike on the DT28, these actually work) that perform a 60 second ECG test (no charts produced) to assess hour Heart Rate Variability (HRV). They’ve gotten real fancy and provided the actual raw data to you on one screen, and a summary of your HRV values on another screen. A summary of the meaning of each of the entries is covered in the review and included below.

Finally, there’s a breathing exercise section to help you relax. For the price this is a must have device to experiment with and delve into advanced heart data. The tethering to the phone app leaves a lot to be desired, and several values don’t transfer yet, but the app is under development, so future editions may be able to capture transferred data from the DT58. IBI: Index of Biological Integrity
SDNN: (standard deviation of all normal to normal intervals
SDSD: standard deviation of successive differences
RMSSD: Root mean square of the successive differences – used for a good snapshot of the Autonomic Nervous System’s Parasympathetic branch and is the basis of our “HRV Score
pNN20: The proportion of NN20 divided by the total number of NN (R-R) intervals
pNN50: The proportion of NN50 divided by the total number of NN (R-R) intervals
HFnorm: High Frequency power (HF): frequency activity in the 0.15 - 0.40Hz range
LFnorm: Low Frequency power (LF): frequency activity in the 0.04 - 0.15Hz range
LF/HF:A ratio of Low Frequency to High Frequency
breath: breath cycle frequency
